Well I've had a semi-interesting week so far. My psychology class has gotten better, although I still feel like we are the teachers' art experiment. We actually went over the development of psychology of women the other day and it was pretty interesting. I guess just the thought process that it involved and all these crazy ideas of the inferiority of women based on the size of their skulls and such I found to be quite hilarious. Of course we had a couple of girls in the class that got offended and began a discussion about the oppression of women that still goes on today. And I agree up to a certain point but I believe that a lot of the issues involving sexism towards women is often a result of women themselves. Everyone is concerned about being too feminine or too masculine and not wanting to come across as weaker and too emotional to other people that they often oppress themselves. I think that we should stop categorizing ourselves into male, female, white, black, etc, and to just start viewing ourselves as individuals and as individuals we should realize that the only person that can hold you back is yourself. There will always be things that only a man can do or only a woman can do based on strength and such but people should stop worrying about appearances and what "people" will think if they do something a certain way. So long as you do right by yourself, I believe, that's all that matters because at the end of the day you only have to live with yourself.
